The Odeon cinema are muppets. This is why I go to Shepard’s Bush Vue. Accessible Odeon.
Last week I bought some games from Play.com and some books from Amazon.co.uk. Nothing has arrived yet.
Firstly, I tried to use Play.com’s tracking service with Royal Mail. The item didn’t show up on the web, so I rang Royal Mail. After about fifteen minutes of pressing numbers to navigate their menus I was finally able to speak to someone. Before that I was played a message twice, telling me that they are changing the way they deliver things, and until the postmen learn their new routes, expect delays and things to go missing. They also play lots of messages to persuade you to use their online tracking system. Even on the phone number given on the online tracking system after it fails. Royal Mail told me that the package had not enetered their system.
Secondly I rang Play.com. They told me that it has left their system, so it’s Royal Mail’s fault. I trust Play.com’s system more than Royal Muppets, so I heeded their advice - wait 14 days, after which time the order is considered lost by Play.com and then it can be resent.
Thirdly, I phoned them up today and they said that they would re-send the items. In another 3-5 days, I might have some games.
By this stage, my Amzon.co.uk order had not shown up. I decided to ring Amazon, but as I have just found out after 20 minutes searching their website, they don’t have a phone number. I filled out their little online email form, and they said they will answer me usually within 24 hours. How nice.

My Mum came over to London last Thursday for some shopping (and to see me apparently), and Hugh came over on Friday. On Saturday we went to Wimbledon to see the tennis. We went in after 5pm for cheap, and managed to blag our way in to court number 1. We also got to see centre court (after the tennis had finished), and we had Pimms on Henman Hill. It was thoroughly delightful.
I have started to get organised about coming home in seven weeks - I gave Hugh a big bag of stuff ot bring home, and I will be sending bags with anyone who will take them from now on. I somewhat hampered my efforts to take my stuff home by buying more today:
